Kunming Stone Forest as the “Essence of World Karst Landform” has been listed as the UNESCO World Natural Heritage with the incomparable coverage of 12 square kilometers’ stone pinnacle groups. Take the sightseeing bus to visit the Greater Stone Forest Scenic Area to admire the typical concentrating cinerous stone pinnacles by walking through the maze of stone peaks and jumping high for the panorama of the forest of protruding stone peaks. Also, you will see the famous peak on many photos and even stones towering over 40 meters. Then, continue to ride the bus to explore the Lesser Stone Forest to closely look at the iconic stone “Ashima” like a young lady, listen to the touching love story of Ashima, and fill your eyes with the emerald garden-like park of wilder stone peaks surrounded by lush green plants and blossoms. Take the sightseeing bus to exit the scenic park.
Later, drive about 143km to Niujie Luosi Field, which is one of the three best places to shoot golden canola flowers in the beautiful spring in Luoping County. Luosi means “screw” and the flowers in Luosi Field are grown in circular rings following the contours of the slopes. Reach the observation deck at a high location and enjoy a panoramic view of the whole field looking like the rings of a snail’s shell, akin to rice terraces in corkscrew patterns. It is a true work of art created by local farmers.
After the tour, drive to Luoping County for accommodation.
In this morning, try to get up early and get to Jinji Hills (Golden Rooster Hills), the best site to watch sunrise in Luoping. The landscape here is flat, punctuated by a few mounds of lovely karst hills, breaking the monotony. Catch the best time to enjoy sun gradually rising and the sunlight sprinkling on the golden flower sea. That vast expanse of rapeseed fields has so much like an extraordinary rural painting, stretching far away through villages, country roads, streams, hills… and to connect the azure sky! If you are photographers, you can head to Lingyi Temple for the superlative panorama, where has a better perspective of the vastness and magnificence of the farms.
Later, drive to Nine Dragon Waterfalls, listed as one of China’s largest and most beautiful waterfalls, with 10 cascades level by level situated among the green hills. Take a cable car up the hill to the viewing platform, where you can have a bird’s eye view of the waterfalls and golden canola flowers nearby. After fascinating sightseeing above, walk the area and down the hill to the biggest and most spectacular waterfall called Shenlong Waterfall - 56-meter-high and 112-meter-wide. Take a leisure walk to the upper valley for an appreciation of other cascades.
After that, transfer to Duoyi River Scenic Area where you can feel the ethnic flavor of Buyi people. With a full length of about 12 kilometers, Duoyi River has nearly 40 waterfalls, surrounded by ancient trees, and the traditional Buyi villages built along the emerald river. Take a delightful bamboo raft on the river and immerse yourselves in the intoxicating sceneries. If you come to Double Third Day of Buyi group (the Water-Sprinkling Festival), you can experience more culture and traditions of this minority.
On the way back to Luoping County, you’ll have the chance to pass by Hundreds of Thousands of Mountains, hundreds of square kilometers vast area with numerous peaks widespread. The peaks are in tower-shaped, pointed cone, or rounded dotted on the farmland - it is very charming at dusk.
Get to your hotel in Luoping and have a good rest.
After breakfast, it is time to say goodbye to this golden land. Your guide and driver will escort you directly from Luoping to the airport or railway station in Kunming to catch your flight/train to next destination.
